So a little better night last night. She only woke up emotional once. And I must say that the only reason she has gotten this emotional is becuase of the pain. She is just in incredible amount of pain. She rates it 100 times more painful than child birth and kindey stones. Every 2-3 hours she wakes up in agony. The nurses have been trying to work out the right cocktail of drugs. The best mixture seems to be a mix of iv/intraoral fentanyl/oxycodone/and ativan. She also has a fentanyl patch, and a scopalamine patch for nasuea.
The plastic surgeon, intecivist, and a couple others are in her room right now changing the wound vac dressings and taking a look at everything. Hopefully all of that is going well.
Felix vs Matsuzaka tonight, well at least for a couple innings!!

I am so sorry to hear that Carol is having to endure such terrible pain. I wish there was something I could do to help you with this Carol. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I hope they get the cocktail figured out very soon to take care of this pain.
Love you,

Hey Scott,
So sorry to hear about Carol's pain. I don't want to be a bother in any way, but I can tell you a couple things I've seen work really well for people with amputation and graft pain - in addition to what she's already on. Amitriptyline, it's a tricyclic antidepressant that is used a lot in chronic pain, and Neurontin, an analgesic adjunct used a lot in chronic nerve pain. Strangely enough, I've also seen really small doses of Haldol, an antipsychotic, used with good effect in the acute pain stage. Just ideas. We know you have an excellent team, but we feel helpless in Boston, knowing our friend is hurting.

thanks everyone. hi joanne...we think about you often and hope you are well!!!
If we could distribute a just little bit of Carol's pain to each of her loving friends and family I truely believe she would be pain free - you have so many people pulling for you! I will pray for peace and comfort for you both. Kisses to your beautiful girls!

Scott and Carol - Your family was brought to our attention down here in Amarillo, Texas through our church prayer requests. I have read every entry and just want you to know that there are prayers being lifted up to the ultimate Healer for Carol. We are all so involved and truly expecting miraculous healing for Carol! I have told the staff a few times how I wish I could get there and help! You two are both amazing in your stregth to get well and hold the family together. I can only imagine how hard it can be. I will not stop praying!

hi Scott, Carol, Cloe, and Saphia
eversince i became aware of what has happened, i've been reading ur blog and it took me about 1.5 hrs to read the whole blog. After i finished reading every word of it from beginning to last, i took a moment to go back and look at ur beautiful pictures. I felt like i was looking at family. What u all have been going through is beyond my imagination, and yet the strength and faith u have been showing is extraordinary and admirable! Scott, it is amazing how at the peak of hardship, u still remembered things to be thankful of. I feel like i am in no position to even begin to comfort u. what do i know about the pain u all have been going through? All i can do is to pray for u and ur family and to let u know that u have a sister who has u in her heart and thoughts and will do anything in her ability to be of any help.
Love,
Pattie Behzad
