7/8/2008

Carol is doing great again today. No real fevers, or issues. She is entirely off the the drip dilaudid. They just give it orally/nasally every 6 hours and as needed for pain. her LFT's were way up this morning so many of her medications have discontinued or changed. The antibiotics were most likely responsible. She is on and has been on a breathing trial for the last couple hours. It was only scheduled to go 1 hour. The reduction in pain medication may be why she is doing so well with the breathing. The plan is to do two 4-hour breathing trials and hopefully have her off the vent by week-end.

I am so glad to hear that Carol is more comfortable and needing less medication. She never did like taking medications. Sounds like she'll progress rapidly now. I can't wait to hear that she's off the vent all together! Our blessings are so many! Please give Carol my love - wish I could be there to tell her myself how worried I've been about her.

Scott,
The devotion, love, and faith that you and Carol's family have shown is truly moving. The emotional highs and lows must be exhausting, and yet all of you have remained steadfast and strong. Each step forward is a treasure and Carol is worth every bit of effort. I am so thankful that her condition has improved. Our thoughts and prayers are with you daily. I send you all blessings of peace, health and most of all hope.
With Love,
Lisa Hayter

Sorry we haven't written sooner. We're just getting caught up on the latest with Carol. Sounds like she's improving, thank, God. Thanks so much for the detailed updates and pictures. It's nice to feel connected since we're so far away. We want you to know that we are thinking of and praying for you all every day.
Much love, health and healing,
Kerry, Patrick and Baby Will

For everyone who can't get to a WAMU branch to contribute to Carol's account - I spoke with the bank today and you can mail your check to them at the address Jim and Judy listed a few days ago. For security reasons you should write on the back "for deposit only to account #9400924349". The check can be made out to Scott, Carol, or Safiya.

Scott,

I am an old high school classmate of Carol's. Actually, I met her in the 3rd grade and have many found memories. We reconnected back in April or May through facebook.com and next I heard you all were going through this trial. I just wanted to let you know that my family and I have been praying for you all. I sometimes think it was strange timing for me to reconnect with Carol just before this all happened but maybe it was so that there would be a few more prayers said on your behalves. You seem like a wonderful man and husband, I'd wish nothing more for Carol to have you by her side. What a beautiful family you've all been blessed with. Give her my love and let her know she is our prayers.

An old friend,
Jennifer (Mercure) Freese

Hi Piccolos

Thanks for getting the account number. I sent an email to Judy Vance and she mention to reference the benevolent account since Scott and Carol have a personal account as well. I've had a lot of people asking about it. Here in California we have WAMU. People could always mail to someone personal, where they have a WAMU, then they can make the deposit. If they don't want to mail directly to the bank. Just a thought.

Marie - Right-O! Any way that the $$ gets there is good! The bank also told me that I could have a cash advance taken on a debit card over the telephone if I preferred. Just another thought. Kathryn
