9/11/2008

Well Carol is doing well. A little nervous about the move, and her back is in some pain where they took the skin for grafting. Amazing when looking at her wounds that that is the only area hurting. Overall though she is very excited to get home. Day by day she is getting more movement all over. She is sitting up pretty well, scratched her own nose for the first time yesterday, brushed her teeth....so improvements are being seen.

She got a new private room...thank goodness. Anyone who has been in her room the last week knows what I am talking about. Much of the week has been alot of planning for next week and the coming month or two. I think we have just about everything I can think of ready, although much as the rest of the this, I am sure things will evolve as the situation changes.

The girls have a busy day as well. Safiya has a doctors appointment in Seattle, and Chloe has music class. Chloe has apparently decided this week she is going to be a movie star. I don't know who tought her to say it but....funny nonetheless.

I am overwhelmed by the response to Carol's situation since being on the tv.....thank you everybody.

I still can't get over how great the news of Carol going home is. I am so happy for you all.

Scott, I have had a few people ask me about the silent auction and they wanted to be assured that the money raised from the auction goes straight into an account set up for Carol. Everyone is so eager to want to help and I think they just want to know that their money is going directly to your family and not somewhere else first. Thanks!

Great story on the news. It brought me to tears to watch it and know that people who don't even know how wonderful Carol really is have such compassion and love for her.

Hugs and Luv, Kari

I watched the news clip last night and it brought me to tears all over again.
I check the auction daily, and am amazed that over 14K people have looked at since it's start.
I am so blessed to call Carol my friend and I hope you and I get to meet someday! You truly are an amazing man!

Love and Prayers Always,

Great pictures!! What a beautiful family.

We can imagine the mixed feelings Carol must be having about going home. Although she will have all of her comforts and familiars around her, she has been in a hospital for 3 months......that transition can't be an easy one.

We're sending our love and prayers.

Scott, Carol and the girls.

Man, I've know your family for a few years now and met you (Scott) with your bro and sister. I'm really feeling for you guys, I had no idea. I wanted to just say hi and let you know I'll be sending all of my prayers to you guys as you start to rebuild your life. As with many unexpected tragedies in our lives, we never know what adversity will do to us. It reveals character for sure and knowing the kind of people you are and the family and friends you have, I know you're hearts and souls will mend and you'll be sharing the happiness of each step that your girls take and Carol takes on her road to recovery. I'll be sure to stay in touch, but wanted you to know that I'm thinking about you guys and I'll try to contribute as often as I can!

God Bless you guys!

I was just reading the updates on Carol and your family with some of the staff from Seattle Cardiovascular Center, we were all very excited to hear about her improvements and stepping stones she is crossing! We all think of her every day, and keep you all in our good thoughts and prayers! We wish you the strength you're going to need these next many months, and we wish Carol the strength and determination to keep fighting hard!

I happen to see on 9/5 you were looking for a place for Carols family to rent in the area, there is a duplex for rent in Edmonds I'm not sure if they are still looking or if that is close enough. Its a 3BD, 2bth place its located at 16503 66th Ave W, Edmonds WA its available at the end of the month and is 1095.00 a month. Carmen Crispeno is the contact and his number 206.261.2068

Again we wish you all the best!
If you need anymore information you can contact myself at jcrowder@seattleheartcenter.com

Hi Scott and friends of Carol,

Amanda Gersh here (Crabmommy). I am prepping for a week-long benefit auction for Carol and another mom, Stephanie Nielson at my blog, next week:

http://crabmommy.blogspot.com/

Please everyone who reads this be assured that all money raised for Carol will go directly into the Paypal fund set up for her, the details of which I retrieved via Erica who has been running the auction for Carol that we've all seen. I have been in touch with Erica (via, Scott) and verified payment methods). I will retain all receipts of winning bidder Paypal transactions passing into Carol's account and will gladly make them available as needed.

Please come to the auction, friends of Carol, or send moms to me. I have lovely items lined up for moms and babies.

Carol, Scott,

I received word through a friend yesterday about your situation. After exploring your blog this morning, I've managed to better understand the scope of everything: the synopsis, day-to-day progress, arrival of Safiya and the infinite transitions on various levels.

My family, friends and myself are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Our love goes out to you!

I graduated from KEHS in 1994. Having been friends with the Mercure family, I realized Carol's connection with Jennifer. As of today, I hope to help build awareness with others, especially those whom know Carol from high school and those within other social networks as well.

I hope to remain in touch, keep you in my prayers and do what I can to help raise donations.

Sincerely,
Matt Hepworth

I just came across your blog. I can't even explain how I'm feeling. My heart aches for you and your family. I pray for you and so glad to see she is making progress. What a beautiful baby and wife you have. I just had a baby and can't imagine how hard it would be to be going through this. Once again my thoughts and prayers are with you.
