Hey Scott!

I wanted to let you know that I have set aside November 1st for the portrait day fundraiser for your family. I’m working on the details for getting the word out and hopefully it will have so much interest there will need to be a second day!! J

Here’s what I want to do:

People come down to my studio in Tacoma and have their family/kids etc photographs taken. Normally I charge for the session but instead, they can donate to your family in lieu of the session fee. 100% of that would go to you. Whatever prints they order, 50% of the profit will go towards your family. I figure this will be perfect timing for Christmas photos so hopefully everyone will come for this event instead of a quick snapshot at the mall.

I have a friend working on putting together a press release so that we can send this out to the community and get things rolling.

Any thoughts?

Dear Scott,

I am a good friend of Megan's and run a boutique out of Maple Valley. We would like to hold a silent auction for Carol at our October show and wanted to know if that was ok with you. We've already linked your donation site to our website as many of our vendors are in the stake.

Scott & Carol,
I heard about you from a friend of a friend of yours. I started reading your blog (from the beginning) yesterday and have kept reading it every chance I got. I wanted to say that the two of you are amazing! Scott, I love that you have been researching and taking initiative throughout all this (even if the doctors might not have appreciated it at times. he he). You continue to have a positive attitude and outlook. And even through all this you are still spending time with your daughters. I am sure Chloe especially needs that at this time. Carol you ROCK! I don't even know you, but I love the little bit about you that I have experienced. Your humor and positive attitude for sure!, your strength, your acceptance of the situation. I am sure there is a long road to recovery and there will be ups and downs along the way, but I don't doubt that all will turn out well.
I was born and raised in the tri-city area (Basin City, but now live in Idaho). I read that there were fundraisers going on there. Even though I am not directly associated with you guys, I feel a connection some how (and Carol you look so darn familiar to me).
Anyway, I hope it is not too weird having a complete stranger comment on your blog. But I am sure you are used to complete strangers by now.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am excited to continue reading about your recovery. I know you know this, but there are so many people concerned for your family that you have no idea about.
God does hear and answer our prayers. I know there are so many wonderful experiences in your future that are just waiting to happen and you have two beautiful daughters to share it all with. You truely are blessed!

I am a stranger but heard about your story through another blog. I will be praying for your family and wishing you all the best.

Scott, I'm another stranger that heard about your story. I noticed that Carol had C. Diff - my daughter had that, it's really hard to get rid of...taking a product called Culturelle will really help with the prospect of relapse. It also helps the immune system. Just thought I'd let you know...best wishes and prayers.

I, too, found you through CJane. I went through and read your entire blog from beginning to end. I just lost my mom to cancer, and can honestly say I know how heart wrenching it can be to watch a loved one suffer. You have a wonderful spirit, and Carol is one tough cookie! Hang in there, and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I just stumbled across you through cjane's blog as well. Oh my gosh. Words cannot express what I'm feeling for your family right now. I'm so glad that Carol is home now, but I'm sure the journey is only just beginning. I would love to do something. I will be focusing on something in the next couple of days. My prayers are with your family. I just can't imagine all you've already been through.

I do not know you but heard this morning of your story on the C Jane Enjoy It blog. This is such a horrific trial to endure. I've spent the last hour reading the entire blog and am so impressed, Scott, by your spirit of strength. You are being an amazing husband and father. I can't imagine how hard this must be on you, your wife and your beautiful children. Carol is a champ! I have now words for how impressive her fight has been! My heart breaks and yet is so full for your pain and how blessed you are to have Carol here and recovering. My family will pray for you.

Dear Scott,
I came across your blog today as it was linked to C Jane's blog, where she asked for prayers for your family today, as well as for her own (her sister and brother-in-law were in a recent plane crash and are in critical condition)

Your story brought tears to my eyes - both because of the frustration I feel for your family, but also for the strength you have all displayed. I pray for you to stay strong as you care for Carol and your daughters - what a wonderful husband you are! I pray for Carol to keep up her strength and to keep fighting both mentally and physically as she has been. I'm so impressed by her courage. And of course I pray for your daughters that they grow with strength and joy.

Sending you all hugs and warms wishes from Virginia.

Tania

I'm a stranger and came upon your blog today.

I just got done reading your whole blog, from start to 9/17.

Life is fragile. So fragile.

Some words I recognized, as my husband and I had to save our son from brain cancer and many infections....debridement, integra, wound vac, graft donor site, c.diff, .... It is like one thing after another....

I never understood when people posted on my blog that they "just came upon it and read the whole thing...." But, I do now. I get it. You've touched me. Right now. And, forever.

My life is calm again, and I'm praying, for you, for Carol, for your baby girls, that you may feel the calm again. You deserve many blessings. I can tell you and Carol are the type of people that can feel the blessing of the present, even through the pain....

God Bless.

I've subscribed to your blog with bloglines and will pray for you all.

I am another that found your blog via CJane. I am tremendously touched by your experience. I can't even imagine in a million years what something like this is like. You will be in my prayers and I pray that Carol continues to recover well and that your family will continue to have strength to get through this ordeal. I really believe that every event that happens in our lives, good or bad, has a purpose and we grow, learn, and become stronger. I believe the same for your family. I wish you and your family the absolute best.

Scott and Carol, I too read about you in Cjane's blog and realized that I know you two from Rick's. I was very close to Josh our freshman year, and although you probably don't remember me, I remember both of you and I have been deeply touched by your blog and the strength that you have both demonstrated throughout this grave trial! You are both so strong and your girls are beautiful. Your little family has touched so many of us out here in the blogger world. You have made me want to be better, be a better mother, hold my own babies a little closer, for a little longer. I am sending lots of prayers your way! Tell hello to Josh!

I am very sorry to hear of your story. I hope I do not offend you by saying the following. I am an RN in CA and have 16 years of healthcare experience, 5 of those solely in Labor & Delivery. From the little I have read of your story and birth comments, Medical Malpractice comes to my mind. Yes, I know the past can not be changed but your future could be helped. I would strongly suggest pursuing this avenue if not already looking in to it. Again I mean no disrespect by saying this. I pray your family will continue to be blessed. Very Respectfully, RN in CA
