3/9/09

Hello all. Life continues to be very busy.. The girls are doing very well. Chloe is def 2. Carol and I thought our daughter must be having some serious issues with all that has happened this year and is acting out. She insists on putting on her own shoes, clothes, and doing everything else herself. She is going through a bit if a hitting phase...she hit's/taps her little sister at times when she is not getting enough attention. We decided to look at the internet and find out what was wrong with our child, only to find she is a normal 2 year old. Safiya, is just about crawling officially. I guess unofficially she is...whatever that means. I guess it means she has done it, but can't do it, at will, all the time..officially:)

Carol keeps stepping it up a notch. She went up and down 23 stairs today at her physical therapist in Maple Valley. I must plug these guys at Outpatient Physical Therapy. The donate several hours per week to Carol...very cool. We appear to be all set for her upcoming surgery (on the 19th). She will be having a revision on her left arm, and her right leg. She seems to be getting a little nervous, rightfully so. She will at the hospital at the minimum over the weekend. She has to be able to transfer from chair to bathroom, to bed, etc. in order to not be put back into rehab at Harborview. Carol says she will be transferring by Saturday.

Thanks for all the support, and thanks to all the families making us dinners. It is greatly appreciated!!

Scott and Carol

Scott and Carol, Chloe and Safiya, you all are such an inspiration. Officially. :)

I live in Enumclaw and would really love to be of help if I could either with a dinner or picking something up from the store or whatever you need. I know you have lots of friends and family so I'm not sure where your need is, but please don't hesitate at all to let me know.

With love and prayers,
Amanda

Hi guys! I am with Kim on wanting to do anything I can. I've been wanting to come visit for awhile, so maybe Kim will let me hitch a ride with her ;)

It is always so touching to hear how you've been inspiration to so many people (including me). I think of you often and Carol I am continually amazed by your strength to push harder everyday, you are so awesome. I have no doubt that your upcoming surgery will go smooth and you'll be back at it in no time!

It sounds like you have your hands full! :) I'm so happy to hear that Carol is doing quite well and is always making progress.

I am sleep deprived. This was my reaction to your post...

Reading along..."Chloe is def 2."...

WHAT?? Chloe's deaf? OMG, are you kidding? This family hasn't been through ENOUGH?! What happened? Was there an accident? Wait a second...def 2? Too? Who else is deaf? I know that Carol lost her sight...she lost her hearing as well?

Took a good few minutes to work it all out in this tired little brain of mine. :)

Anyway, thought I'd share that...A bit of a wake-up call to be a little more OPTIMISTIC! :)

Chloe sounds like a little fire cracker!! Can't imagine where she gets that from.....certainly not from her parents.....hahahaha!

Thanks for keeping us in the loop about the plan for next week, we sure appreciate it!!

Much love,

Carol and Scott,

You probably have no idea of how many patients at outpatient PT you are helping on a daily basis. My injury is very minor and whenever I start to feel sorry for myself or want to give up I look at your blog and see how far you have come. I feel lucky to have been at the next treatment table from you. Please hurry back to PT- you will be missed!
